ECafrique was established in 2003 by a core group of 22 founding members.  these members helped define the organization’s goals, objectives, and scope of work.  Today the group retains a key position in the network, contributing to our on-going activities and guiding future endeavors.

In addition to the founding members, ECafrique includes hundreds of institutional and individual members.  Each member receives the ECafrique Bulletin, and can be called on to support broader network initiatives.  Membership is voluntary and open to all professionals and institutions committed to promoting EC in Africa.  To apply for membership email , ecafrique@pcnairobi.org.

The secretariat of ECafrique is based in the Nairobi offices of the Population Council, with regional coordinators in Nairobi (serving Anglophone Africa) and Dakar (serving Francophone Africa).

Core funding for ECafrique is provided by the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation and the Compton Foundation. Individual country-level activities have been supported by USAID, UNFPA, WHO, and the Concept Foundation.
